Physics and Cosmology Website

About

My team and I redesigned a website for a physics and cosmology professor at UCI. The purpose of this website was to allow high school students and teachers to ask questions about fundamental physics.

Goal

The client's current website was lacking engagement and user-friendliness. Our goal was to revamp the website so that people who are interested in this topic could have a engaging user experience while obtaining useful information along the way.

Role

User Interface Designer, Usability Tester/Recorder

Process

  • Meet with client and understand the current problem

Our client wanted us to redesign his website because...
    • It was not intuitive or user-friendly
    • UCI's version of Wordpress was limited
    • He wanted it to look more modern

    Original Website

  • Brainstorm and design mockups

After learning more about what our client wanted and expected, we designed several different mockups. We then narrowed it down to one design that fit all the requirements our client wanted.

  • Develop prototype

Following presentation of mockups to our client, we began developing a prototype.
  • Conduct User Testing

We created a user testing handbook that detailed what we do before, during, and after testing. We reached out to students and offered incentives to participate in our study.

  • Analyze results

We used results from test to make improvements to website.
